General conditions: changes and refunds
Refunds will not be accepted in the following circumstances:
- Once the policy has come into effect, under any circumstances, except for the exceptional cases detailed in the general procedure.
- When more than 60 days have passed since the premium payment date, due to technical accounting consolidation requirements and limitations on refunds to certain cards, especially prepaid cards.

This product can be understood as a “basic” fare, similar to an airline ticket that, in exchange for a competitive price, does not allow changes or refunds once issued.

- An official letter from the relevant consulate or ministry is required.
- The policy must not have come into effect.
Distance contracts: 14-day right of withdrawal
- Only applicable if the services have not been used.
- The premium refund may be full or proportional depending on use, and must be requested in writing.
- Not applicable to contracts concluded in person.

What to prepare before you travel
Consulate and submission
The relevant authority is the Consulate General of Spain in Caracas. Check its current instructions, service location and insurance payment requirements before booking.

Have your passport and admission letter ready. The consulate may also require criminal record and medical certificates, or apostilled documents, depending on your circumstances.
The Foreign Ministry operates the Electronic Legalisation and Apostille System. Check the document registration and appointment requirements.

The insurance premium is paid in euros directly to ASISA. Check that your card accepts international payments and ask your bank about exchange charges.

Exchange rate dated
The general 2026 reference for a student is €600 for each month of the stay. This is a visa requirement, separate from the insurance price. Prepaid accommodation and accompanying relatives may change the amount you must prove.

Is the calculator price final?
No. It is an estimate based on the information entered. ASISA will confirm the final price in its pre-contractual terms.
Do I pay for the policy on this website?
No. After you review and accept ASISA’s pre-contractual terms, ASISA will send you its payment instructions directly.
Does submitting the application activate a policy?
No. The application lets the agent prepare the policy with ASISA. Cover and start dates depend on ASISA’s contract documents and its record of payment.
Do I need an NIE or a Spanish bank account?
You can prepare the application from your home country using your passport. You pay ASISA by card; you do not need a Spanish bank account for this process.
Is ASISA Health Students suitable for any residence application?
This product is intended for study stays. If you are applying for another kind of residence, ask the agent which product applies before buying.
What if I have a pre-existing medical condition?
Select yes in that person’s health question and briefly explain the condition. Do not attach medical reports. The agent will review the case with you and ASISA will assess the circumstances and applicable terms before you buy.
How far in advance can I arrange my policy?
With an assisted application, you can arrange your policy up to 5 months before your cover starts. Tell the agent the date you need cover to begin.
Can I request a refund if my visa is refused?
Yes, subject to conditions: you need an official letter from the relevant consulate or ministry, and the policy must not have come into effect. Refunds are not accepted more than 60 days after the premium payment date. Read the general conditions for changes and refunds on this page, which also explain the exceptions for withdrawal from distance contracts and errors attributable to ASISA.
What documents should I prepare?
For the initial application, each person’s passport and an admission letter only for the first person. If the insured person is a minor, the legal guardian’s passport is also needed; the guardian acts as policyholder. The agent will confirm which documents apply.
Can I apply without using the calculator?
Yes. The calculator is optional and does not require contact details. You can go straight to the application form.
Can I choose any doctor?
Check the specific ASISA Health Students medical network and your policy cover. Review the centres available in the province where you will live.
Does the policy renew automatically?
No. This product lasts between two and twelve months. If your stay is extended, ask how to arrange a new policy.
Does the policy guarantee my visa will be granted?
The competent authority makes that decision. Insurance is one part of the application; check your consulate’s requirements and tell us about any specific conditions before applying.
What is the TIE and when do I need it?
The TIE is the physical card showing your authorised stay in Spain. You must apply for it when your authorised study stay is longer than six months. We help you prepare this process together with address registration, as one service.
